From the December 1961 issue of Shipmate:
It is my sad duty to inform the class of the death of Lt (jg) JOHN PAUL PRICE. John was killed 22 August when his F8 Crusader crashed into the waters of the Western Mediterranean. John was serving in USS INDEPENDENCE with VF-84. He is survived by his widow, Patricia, and one child, Debra Ann, one year old. John was a fine person, officer and Naval Aviator, a man the class will certainly miss.
He has a memory marker in Maryland. The inscription reads: “In memory of our beloved son, Lt. John Paul Price, U.S.N. Lost in the Mediterranean, while serving his country.”
