Loss
Ted was lost when his P-3 patrol aircraft crashed on January 30, 1963 off the coast of Cape May, New Jersey. He was the Patrol Plane Commander (PPC) of the flight. Thirteen others of the crew were also killed.
Other Information
“The Class of 1958 and the Navy have lost a loyal, gallant, and brave young officer.” He was survived by his father, Captain Ted White, USN (Retired), Class of ‘32. (Information from March 1963 issue of Shipmate.) He was also survived by his mother and brother, James.

THEODORE C. WHITE LACROSSE AWARD
Special Order No. 22-63 at the Academy has established this award in memory of the late TED WHITE who was lost in a P3V accident in January 1963. The award established by Ted’s father, Capt. T. H. White, USN (Ret.), is an engraved wrist watch which will be presented annually to that midshipman of the lacrosse squad who has contributed most to the spirit, morale, and well being of the lacrosse team. A similar award, a sword or saber, will be given each year at Villanova University to that midshipman of the NROTC unit displaying the most outstanding officer-like qualities.
