TERRY ELTON EMERY

When Terry journeyed east to enter the Naval Academy, he left many good friends in Bagdad-by-the-Bay. However, at The Factory, he soon made new buddies who early noticed his cheerful personality which was well combined with quick wit and his ability to grasp and control the many situations he encountered. In the academic field he always did well and was ready, at all times, to lend a hand to his less brilliant classmates. He was no stranger to the athletic program either. At Navy Terry developed an interest in gymnastics and specialized in the high bar and flying rings. The “Little King” will long remain in the memories of those who knew him.

He was also a member of the 2nd Regiment staff (fall).

Loss

Terry was lost on the night of February 18, 1963 when his F-8C Crusader crashed while on approach to USS Ranger (CV 61) off the coast of Japan. He was a member of Fighter Squadron (VF) 91.

Terry graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in June 1953. Terry participated in the 100 freestyle and the 4-man relay on the swimming team. He was a member of the CSF Club.

In February 1960, Terry was stationed at Moffett Field Naval Air Station.

His parents were Frank, a manager of retail grocery and oil station, and Mildred (Twidwell). His sister was Frances. He married Ramona G. Shigley on June 23, 1962.

Terry has a memory marker in California.
