Guy was lost on November 10, 1969 when the aircraft he was piloting crashed into the Mediterranean Sea during a training mission.

LCdr. Guy M. Houston Jr., USN, died 10 November as the result of an aircraft accident in the Mediterranean Sea while on flight maneuvers off the USS Saratoga. Memorial services were held in the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
A native of New Albany, Miss., LCdr. Houston was graduated from the Naval Academy in June 1958 and was also a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey. In 1965 he was nominated for membership on the Astronauts team. A pilot with Attack Carrier Air Wing Three, LCdr. Houston had been stationed aboard the Saratoga for four months.
Survivors include his widow Sandra of 2078 Hyde Park Rd., Apt. 18, Jacksonville, Fl. 32210; a son Douglas Scott Houston; two daughters Cynthia Lynn and Lori Ann, and his mother Mrs. Frances Houston of New Albany.

n December 1950, Guy took part in the 14th annual clinic for band members in Greenville, Mississippi. He played baritone sax.
He married Sandra Roth at her parents’ home in Corpus Christi on February 26, 1960. After a wedding trip to New Albany, the couple lived in San Francisco.
In January 1961, Guy lived in Mountain View, California. In June 1963, he was in Hanford, and in December, he was in Lemoore. In October 1964, he was in Monterey.
He has a memory marker in Arlington National Cemetery.
